"Red Hen Originals” is the inspiration of award-winning artist Julia Burns, whose figurative and abstract work hangs in private collections all over the world. She produced her first red hen in 1985 as a Christmas card design for family and friends, little knowing then how popular the image would become. As Julia’s professional career flourished, her quirky and highly individual red hen paintings grew in popularity – so much so that, in 2005, one of her red hen paintings was auctioned by Sotheby’s and raised over £700 for victims of the 2004 Tsunami (read more at www.artofcare.co.uk).

Following considerable interest in Julia’s work, and with the encouragement and support of her husband, Simon Kershaw, “Red Hen Originals” was officially launched in 2008 as a novel way of bringing original art into the public domain. Characterised by their apparent simplicity, these charming little paintings have quickly become collector’s items. No two “originals” are the same and with new designs regularly being added to the range, “Red Hen Originals” is about making original art accessible to everyone.
